Frequently Asked Q & A

Q. How much will my kitchen remodel cost me?

A. Although the question of “how much will my remodel cost?” is most commonly asked, the answer is one of the most difficult to discern. The price will be affected by a myriad of different factors such as where you buy your products, what features they include, what brands you select, and how experienced of a craftsman/designer you choose.

According to a survey by the National Kitchen and Bath Association, the average kitchen remodel costs $27,000. Keep in mind however, that this is the average price which reflects average cabinets in an average sized room. Bathroom prices range from 7,000 and upwards when replacing everything.

It isn’t unusual for a kitchen remodel to cost anywhere from 30,000 to a shocking 150,000 and higher. Although these prices may seem unrealistic to some, homeowners are encourage to keep in mind that for most, a new kitchen is a once in a lifetime purchase. The added resale value also aids in making the expense a little easier to live with.

Q. What makes a kitchen remodel more or less expensive?

A. As outlined above, cabinets account for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the total cost of the project. The price ranges based on the selection of style and brand as well as the quality of the cabinetry. The price also varies whether you choose cabinetry that is stock, which is ready made to order in specific sizes or custom which is produced specifically for your kitchen.

Countertops, backsplashes, repainting jobs, floors, etc. also account for a chunk of your price.

Other key elements that affect your kitchen remodels’ price are workmanship and talent. The phrase “you get what you pay for” is extremely relevant in contracting services. An accomplished designer and expert installation crew may cost more, but you’ll appreciate the time and money it saves you throughout the process and in the long run

Q. Can I get other bids on the design?

A.  Although signing our Design Agreement entails a project retainer, it allows you to keep the hard copies of your computerized 3D perspective drawings. With these drawings, you are free to request estimates from other firms. Keep in mind, however, that because different firms feature different products, most of the time you will end up comparing not “apples to apples”… but “apples to oranges”.

A sure tell sign of a reliable contracting firm for your remodel is a company who has been in business for a lengthy duration of time. It is often a sign that they have competitive prices, or else they wouldn’t have stayed in business. It is important to work with someone you feel comfortable with and who will focus on you and what your needs are as opposed to someone who simply implies that they can save you money just to get your business.
